What is so Good about Good Friday?

What’s so Good about Good Friday?

So what is “good” about a man being beaten, mocked, forced to carry a heavy cross through a crowd of jeering people to a hill where his hands and feet are nailed to that cross and all for a crime he did not commit?
It wouldn’t be good- if he were just any man. There was something special about this man, something very special about Him. He was God in human flesh. He was the promised one, the Messiah, and King come to save his people. They were not interested in being saved. They were quite happy working out their own salvation. That is why they didn’t recognize Him for who He was- they thought they were doing just fine on their own. Sound like some people you know? Truth is lots of us think we are doing just fine on our own when we are not. Think your good? Maybe you are. How good do you need to be to get to heaven? Perfect. Not that good? Hmmm…guess it’s hell for you.
But wait! What about that man we were talking about earlier…the one who died for crimes He did not commit. Whose crimes did He die for? Yours. Guess that means you might not have to go to hell after all. What Christ wants from you is for you to have faith in Him. Faith that His blood, faith in His paying the penalty for your sins so you don’t have to. Faith + nothing gets you forgiven and made one of God’s own. It is a gift. Reach out and take it and it is yours. That, my Friends, is what is so good about Good Friday.

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Th 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

God’s Love:
Rom 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Rom 5:7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

What we have to do:
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Rom 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

What we get:
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Eph 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Eph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

AMEN! What an amazing post. I don’t often hear the gospel message laid out clearly like that. Thank God for His unconditional love and grace! 🙂
