Sharper Iron

On Friday Richard and I packed our bags and our children and headed for the Sharper Iron Bible Conference at Shorewood Bible Church in Chicago. Due to the van needing a bit of work, we drove a rental car. After a long ride, with the kids sleeping most of the way, we arrived! It seemed like every time I turned around I saw someone I knew and was dear to me. Being in the body of Christ makes everyone you meet at these conferences family! People you haven’t met still feel like friends because of the ties we have in Christ.
I spent most of the time in the nursery watching my children and a few other people’s kids, too! It was nice chat with other Moms and edify each other. I even managed to catch a message while Eden took a nap. It has been a while since I have been able to listen to a sermon without being interrupted by small children! (when your a pastor’s wife there is only one of you and you’re outnumbered!) I learned so much and had forgotten how good it feels to focus on the Scriptures without distractions!
The Fellowship was great. I got to spend time with my dear friend, Rochelle who is expecting a baby in August. I filled her head with all the mommy knowledge I have become expert on due to having three children. (ha!) We almost went out for Chicago style pizza at Lou Malnatti’s but on a Saturday night it meant a 2 hour wait! Not happening when it is 6pm and we need to leave in an hour! Sooo we went to Pita somewhere or other and I had a lamb kabob pita. It was good, but definitely NOT Chicago style pizza. 😉
Thank you Shorewood for delightful weekend!
