Making Babies is the new series put out by Shoshanna Easling at the Bulk Herb Store. I have to admit I ogled it for a couple months prior to buying it! Here is the product description for you:
Making Babies Book is a fun, informational, artistic, and colorful pregnancy book. Follow Shoshanna through her pregnancy and the birth of her daughter as she stays healthy and builds a baby. Making Babies Book covers information that is in Making Babies DVDs volumes 1, 2, and 3, includes many deliciously healthy recipes, wonderful gluten-free recipes, grandma’s remedies, herbal concoctions, and need-to-know facts, and is packed with research about fertility, conception, morning sickness, pregnancy, birth, nursing, postpartum issues, losing weight, and more!
They had a sale going on last month if you bought three of complete sets- a book and three DVD’s in each set. Now I didn’t need three sets but I knew some other ladies who I thought would be interested. It wasn’t too difficult to find two friends who wanted in on the deal. There seems to be a baby boom going on! I am going to state right now that I am not pregnant . This is information for future use. 😀
Waiting for the box to come was like waiting for Christmas to come as a kid. When the delivery man dropped it at the door I almost ran to the table to get it opened up! The book is HUGE! It is full of beautiful pictures and recipes. It isn’t very wordy- it is mostly pages and pages of tinctures, balms, food recipes and short tips. The Making Babies set covers pre-conception to postpartum. Shoshanna has some tips on weight loss and not gaining excessive weight while pregnant. I gained 35 lbs with each pregnancy, so weight gain isn’t a major issue. Losing it after my 3rd baby has been. 😛 Most of the food recipes are gluten-free and many are dairy free. They look absolutely delicious! I tried the Tilapia Recipe this week. You can read about it farther down. 🙂
The videos have a lot of the same information as the book, but both have a few things that are unique. The videos are well made and fun to watch. My children think they are very entertaining! It is funny to hear them ask to watch “Making Babies”! So far I have not come across anything that would be inappropriate for children to view on them. I did come across a slight problem with the DVD I was watching. I opened it in Power DVD and everything was too bright/light. I couldn’t read the words because they were white on a light background and it was all a little weird in the lighting department. When I switched to Windows Media player everything was perfect and looked great! I guess it just isn’t compatible with Power DVD.
I have tried two of the recipes so far. The first one I tried was Tilapia on a Bed of Herban Rice. It sounded delicious, and I wasn’t disappointed! The flavors were great together especially if you put the fish on top of the rice like Shoshanna did- they just blended together perfectly! I do have to say that I would add the lime to taste. I had a big lime and when I tried the recipe as is it was too limey! I added twice as much rice and it was yummy! I have to admit that my 3 children were not so thrilled as Richard and I were and mostly just ate the broccoli I served as the side dish. 😉 (my kids love broccoli an get really excited when I serve it- yes, they are strange!) The second recipe I tried was Simply granola. It was pretty much simple granola. 😀 It was good and the kids were excited to have granola to put on their yogurt! I think if I make it again I will add a little less salt as I thought it was a smidge salty.
All in all I think this is some great information. I really enjoyed watching the DVD’s and reading the book. If you are into a natural pregnancy, labor, and motherhood this is a great resource!
